Do The Right Thing.

We are all about being good global citizens and neighbors, starting with wearing a damn mask. That one gesture is an investment in the future of the hospitality industry, not to mention benefits everyone in your orbit. The way we see it, the more widespread masking is, the sooner we can all meet again. And do all of the other things we love to do, including socializing IRL.

As we start looking to the future when larger gatherings are safe, our radar is attuned to creative ways to integrate social distance into events. We share a few recent faves,

When someone says something so well, it needs to be shared. This particular post appeared all over our social media feeds, and we get why it resonates with so many hospitality professionals:  wearing a mask will help our industry come back to life and put our friends and colleagues back to work. It’s such a simple yet meaningful gesture of respect for all humans.

“I have worked in the hospitality industry for 30 years and have never been through anything like this… Our industry has been hit hard by COVID. There is no reopening for us until there is a vaccine...Broadway is closed until 2021. Cirque du Soleil has filed for bankruptcy, and cut 3500+ jobs. Feld Entertainment laid off 90% of its workforce permanently. Cruise ship entertainers are out of work. This country’s hotels are at the lowest occupancy for as long as I can remember and most of the sales teams and employees have been furloughed and many dear friends lost their lifelong careers. Our travel agent friends cannot book trips. Theme park productions have no idea when they will be recalled. There are no concerts or touring productions. Performing arts organizations of all kinds—choirs, theatres, orchestras, dance companies—are all trying to figure out on a daily basis how to keep going and employ anyone they can in the field. 12,000,000 people in the US and a $38 Billion per year industry cannot reopen until mass gatherings can happen again! So, when you see your hospitality and entertainment friends begging you to wear masks and stay home, understand that we are helplessly watching our industry crumble before our eyes because the country is doing so poorly at reducing the spread. This *IS* personal for us. PLEASE wear your mask over your mouth AND your nose.”

Enough said. Well, unless you want a good chuckle from one of our favorite YouTube families, The Holderness family!
