Dusting off the Passport: A trip to the Conrad Punta Mita
/International travel has pretty much been off the table since March, so the reopening of destinations like Mexico, the Bahamas and Costa Rica pleases us to no end. We know nothing is set in stone given COVID-19 case fluctuations, yet the loosening of restrictions is a step in the right direction.
Kim and Scott recently traveled to the Conrad Punta Mita in Mexico to participate in a Customer Advisory Board meeting. From the Alaska Airlines flight and airport transfers to the hotel stay and excursions, the experience proved to be informative and reassuring when it comes to the safety of international travel right now.
The Conrad Punta Mita is adhering to the government’s occupancy restrictions, limiting capacity to no more than 50%. The Hilton CleanStay program was in full effect, including contactless check-in via the app, signage throughout the property and cleaning protocols. “Truly, I felt just as safe at this hotel as I did at a hotel in San Diego or Sedona,” Kim said. She also noted the many beautiful outdoor spaces offering great potential for social distancing friendly gatherings. “It’s all about getting creative and thinking outside the ballroom right now,” she added.
While guests of the hotel, Kim and Scott embarked upon an ATV adventure and snorkeling excursion—safety and sanitization were priorities for the experience providers and the couple felt very well looked after by the DMCs and tour operators. “Hands down, the best part of the Mexico for me was the people,” Kim reflected. “They were all smiles for the return of tourism, as were we!”
The return will be gradual but after visiting Mexico we can assure our customers that safety is a top priority and resorts are following strict cleanliness protocols.
